The Dutch soprano Donij van Doorn is praised for her warm sound, agile high notes and touching interpretations. An experienced performer in the field of opera and art song, she considers herself a proud ambassador of opera, bringing this art form to large audiences all around the world alongside famous Dutch violinist André Rieu.

Donij received both her bachelor and masters degree with distinction at the Conservatory of Music at Maastricht. After her studies she worked as a young artist at the Opera Studio Nederland in Amsterdam for two years

The versatile soprano appeared as Despina in Così fan Tutte, Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, Susanna in Il Segreto di Susanna, Valencienne in Die lustige Witwe, Frau Anna Reich in Die lustige Weiber von Windsor, Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas, Ninfa in L’Orfeo, Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief, Lisa in Das Land des Lächelns, Ottilie in Im Weißen Rößl, Tytania in The Fairy Queen, Dafne in Gli Amori d'Apollo e di Dafne and
 Dori in La Grotta di Trofonio. 

She has collaborated several times with the Holland Opera Company, creating the roles of Sam and Louise in the world premieres of the children opera's 'Suikertantes' (Sugar Aunties) and '4 Musketiers'. 

Her performance of Bubikopf in 'Der Kaiser von Atlantis' by Ullmann was received well by press and audience. A production created as a special collaboration between the Nederlandse Reisopera, M31 Foundation, New European Ensemble and Theater Na de Dam. 

Donij has an extensive concert repertoire; Bach’s St. Matthew PassionSt. John Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Requiem and Krönungsmesse, Händel’s Messiah, Haydn's Die Jahreszeiten, Brahm's Ein Deutsches Requiem, Rossini's Petite Messe Solenelle and Gounod's Messe Solenelle de Sainte Cécile.

With art song as her first love, she is an esteemed recitalist who has worked together with various instrumentalists and is never shy of offering her audiences some rarely performed gems. 

For eight years Donij has been giving concerts around the whole world as soprano soloist with André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, performing the big arias of the Lyric Fach - including the 'Vilja-song', 'Meine Lippen sie küssen so heiss', 'Ah fors' è lui che l'anima', 'Caro nome' and 'Ebben, ne andró lontana'. Recordings on YouTube have been streamed millions of times.
